Welcome!

Winship-Robbins Elementary School District was formed in July 2005 when Robbins Elementary, a part of Yuba City Unified School District, joined Winship Elementary. Winship had been a one-school district in Sutter County since 1863, and Robbins School dates back to 1927. The reorganization of the two small schools into one district has combined resources and strengthened both schools.

Robbins has a teaching staff of nine, and the classes are combined in different ways depending on the number of students in each grade. For 2011/12, we have a full day kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. The 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades change classes and rotate through 3 teachers throughout the day. There are six aides to assist both in the classroom and in the afternoon intervention program for students who need a little more support.

Winship currently has two teachers. One teaches kindergarten through 3rd grade, and the other teaches 4th-8th grade. Both teachers share PE, art, and music classes. If we get enough students enrolling on inter-district transfers, we may add a third teacher. There are two aides in the morning, and one who continues in the afternoon to do the intervention program.

Each site has a breakfast and lunch program, a school secretary-bookkeeper, a bus driver/maintenance person, and a part-time custodian. Free bus transportation is available from the Yuba City area to Winship, and from Knights Landing area to Robbins.

Our rural atmosphere and old-fashioned family values are a rarity in this era, and we are proud to say that our schools offer sound educational training along with a good dose of character. Our test scores have improved dramatically over the past couple of years, and we are continually fine-tuning our curriculum and our staff to offer quality education to small groups of lucky children.

District News

Winship-Robbins staff and parents are shocked and saddened by the tragic event at the Connecticut school. Although it is impossible to predict the behavior of deranged people, please be assured that both of our schools have safety plans with prepared responses to outside threats, and we practice those responses on a regular basis. All parents and community members are welcome to look at our plans and make suggestions on how to improve them.

If you are considering joining our District, please call for a personal tour of our two wonderful small rural schools. We specialize in individualized attention and educating the whole child. We work on building good character as well as good academics.

Our schools offer lots of field trips and family events. Both schools currently have room for more interdistrict students. Winship School offers free bus transportation from Yuba City, and we can make arrangements to pick up students in Sutter or Meridian as well. Robbins School picks up children in Knights Landing.

If you're looking for a wonderful small school in which to enroll your child, please come check us out! We are in the process of updating our website, so please check back for more news.
